The colleges recommend that their students stay on campus for the first year so that they can get the authentic college experience, meeting new people and finding it easy to get to their classes on time. So, this is the best option if they have dorms available.

If not, then you are going to have to look elsewhere. There will be a variety of student rooms available around the area that the college is in. Landlords know that students will be looking for places to live, and these are also here for the students in later years who are living off campus now. Or, if you have the money and your child would rather live on their own closeby, this is also an option to consider.

Home Furnishings 

Depending on which accommodation option you are going for, your child is going to need different furniture. If they are in student accommodation, they are going to need very little by way of furnishing as this is usually provided by the college. A few things such as a lamp, some pictures for the wall, kitchenware and things like this are going to be essential. Other than that, they are pretty much covered.

If your child is going to be living off campus, they are likely going to need more. If they are living on their own, a bed, a small sofa, a small table and so on will be necessary. 

Technology
